At the beginning of 2016, Sligro Foodgroup was aiming at fifteen new EMTÉ 3.0 branches. And in December of the year, that objective was achieved. The new format not only provides new shop interiors, but also introduces modified shopping trollies. DCR Europe supplied the new look shopping trollies for the new 3.0 shops. The modified shopping trollies have new black plastic parts and comfort grips with a large surface for advertising.
The new way of shopping
For many customers, EMTÉ 3.0 is an introduction to the new way of shopping in the supermarket. In most 3.0 branches, customers are able to scan their own shopping. The stores have a new industrial look and feature lots of natural materials. A new logo and a fresh green colour reflect this new approach, which is obviously incorporated in the different shopping trollies.
DCR Europe modified the existing shopping trollies to reflect this new look. Many customers think that these are new trollies, but in fact the existing trollies have just been adapted. During the refurbishment period in the shops, DCR Europe collected all the existing shopping trollies and had them taken to the DCR factory in Nijverdal. Here the trollies were inspected, re-polished, fitted with new parts and powder coated in the new EMTÉ colour.
For the opening of each new branch, DCR Europe not only delivered the refurbished trollies, but also supplied new kid cars and buggies and brand new model ‘cube’ collection stations.
Stan van Vijfeiken, Head of shop interior design at Sligro, is enthusiastic about the partnership: “Because we want to introduce our new formula fast, efficiently and affordably, we work with the same regular partners who meet a number of strict selection criteria. It is very important that a partner can respond as well and as fast as we do. For that reason, DCR has therefore been our longstanding partner for shopping trollies, collection stations and such. This year too, they made good their reputation by working to our schedules very efficiently and totally reliably. In addition, they provided input with regard to smart re-use, excellent solutions and several efficiency improvements. They thus made a significant contribution to a smooth and affordable refurbishment process for EMTÉ according to the new 3.0 formula.”
